despite the fact that i spend lots of time rolling around in and just being in a gymn, where dirty little kid feets run around, and my love and obsession with feet pictures,
i absolutely hate feet.
they're gross. disgusting actually. (photographs.. it's completely different?)
and the worst part of feet? toes.
my issue with toes started a long while back.. when me and erin lou were fighting over a pencil during summer intensive. (for gymn) somehow while wrestling for the pencil, my left pinky toe managed to break.
shortly after, i severely injured my big toe. i don't think it was broken, but something was definitely wrong... considering it was black and blue around the base of it.
it would heal. and then i'd hurt it again. and this happened for literally like 2 years.
somewhere in there, it managed to heal..
then last year, i tripped up the stairs, and not only put a hole in the wall with my knee, but broke my fourth toe and had to use crutches because i couldn't walk.
(and this isn't even mentioning all my issues i've had with my ankles)
since then... things have been going pretty good.. until today.
i've done it a million times, round-off, and four back handsprings.
well.. this time.. i apparently didn't space it out right, because i never quite completed that fourth one.. instead i hit the wall.
i laid on back, my feet were throbbing, tears were coming, and all i could do was focus on taking deep breaths. i looked up to see one of my coaches holding my right foot up and blood pouring out of my toe. i kind of went into shock, not expecting to see that and just laid there.
when my coach asked which of my parents she should contact i was super confused. i was fine, i didn't need anyone to be called. i would just wipe up the blood, put on a band-aid and ride my bike home when class was over. she said, "nope. you need stitches."
then i really went into shock, because of course i didn't. i looked up again and thought okay, yes this hurts bad. maybe i do.. my mom came.. they carried me out of the gymn.. i laid on the couch sobbing for a while, refusing to let anyone touch or look at my foot. i didn't even look at it. i just left it all wrapped up with guaze and ice.
well today also happened to be job interview day.. my mom called the lady and explained what happened. but today was the only day that she could do it because she had to go to st. george to open a store.
so, after i had pulled myself together again, and with a massive wrap still on my foot, my toe still unstitched, i had to take a bath, and make myself look acceptable for a job interview.
well as freaked out about it as i was.
i got the stitches. 8 inside, 6 on top..
had a successful interview, and got the job.
now i just hobble around like a cripple.
and finally have a scar story to tell...
(and don't even worry. my foot is super swollen and i now have sausage toes.)

stitches, don't you love em? ha (sarcasm) :) hope we can both show off sweet scars after our stitches come out!
ReplyDeleteOh ow, Brit I'm sorry that's no fun. But hey, at least you got a battle scar out of it, it always makes you look tougher if you get a scar.(: hope your foot feels better!
