an empty notebook.

[roughdraft]
An empty notebook is just another unlocked door in your heart. New corridors and unknown rooms to explore. A whole new set of halls and staircases, nooks and closets to get lost in, worlds to open up to and adventures waiting to take place. It opens up your mind to new places. Allows it to run new trails and climb higher mountains. Stand on new peaks, look out over new valley's, and hopefully slide down new glaciers.
.
It gives hope. That you've just reached the beginning of a new journey. And just maybe, something you'll write will be something completely new and unique. A beautiful string of worlds, eloquently placed, or a short and simple phrase, pieced together in a way that no other mind ever has. Nobody, in the history of this earth; and then maybe, it was a completely original thought too. Such a beautiful thing. Footprints on a new ground.
& that's what writing is. It's allowing your mind to run away to that place. Where it doesn't have to be fake, or try to be someone else. Whether reality or make believe, it creates whatever it wants, hoping to just simply be something original. Something completely your own, a representation of only you.
.
& with each page you write, that notebook becomes a little bit less of a notebook, and more of a journal. it's no longer filled with blank pages and empty lines, the ink has melted onto the paper, each letter to perfection, or quickly scrawled. either way, they're pieces chipped directly off your heart and mind. they're your thoughts and adventures. the things you love and the ones you hate. people who impacted your life in one way or another. the good days and the bad ones too. a record of who you were, a hint of who you'll become.
.
the future is beautiful, but the future was the present, and now is the past; still just as beautiful. This world is constantly changing, as are we. It's a fast paced world where things get left behind. A journal is just a way to save them, while still being able to let go, and create room for whatever else enters your life.
