i'm cliche and cheesy lines get to me.

he's an oak canyon kid. where the majority think they're to cool for us.
we'd met a couple times but he's never seemed to care enough to learn my name.
so his wave caught me completely off guard. later he deecided to strike up conversation number two,
i apologized for not returning his wave and a short conversation followed.
when we were all having pizza, he seemed to linger close but i didn't pay any attention.
i heard my name and saw him glance up. he thought i was cute, and i made the mistake of thinking his cousin being a girlfriend.
shortly after school was out i got a text. he didn't have to tell me for me to know who he was but i might've played hard to get,
and let my friends have a little to much fun taunting him and telling about my (nonexistent) boyfriend.

"when i saw you i couldn't take my eyes off you. not only cause you are beyond gorgeous but i saw something else in you.. i don't know how to describe it."
"hah even though i really don't have a chance with you. you. are. gorgeous brit(: inside and out. i might barely know you, but i don't need anymore to tell."
and it wasn't even day one.

Thursday, August 18

oh haai.. sophomore?!

despite what my co-workers and many others have previously thought. i'm not 20. i haven't graduated highschool. actually, i haven't even begun.
in my mind. high school was is going to be an exciting adventure.
let's be real my thought process went something like this.

"aaah i can't wait! so many cute new clothes! seeing all my friends again! making so many new friends! finally being at the high school! flirting with cute boys! taking fun classes, it will amaaazing!"

of course i realized it would consume my life, (like it tends to do..)
but the reality of actually being in school, didn't hit me until i was reading here..
she's already back in school... and in one week, we'll all have let it taken over our lives too.
attempting to learn spanish. and trying my hardest to keep up in math. although it will most likely still ruin my life. carrying around heavy textbooks. wasting away time with busy work. forgetting important things that you were supposed to bring. people that irk you. procrastinating everything way to much and watching time fly by.
it's all coming back.

but good news. (along with the fact that this summer has been spectacular)
we went to the high school today. and not only can i fit in my locker, buuut i can find my way around too.
and i'm determined not to get lost on day one. (oh seventh grade. hah.)
please use your imagination and pretend i have a neck in this picture. mmk.

Wednesday, August 10

number one thing to miss about summer.

early afternoon naps.
literally almost every day..
late nights, exhausting early morning workouts,
come home, and i'm out.
and it's great. i have the nicest dreams while i nap.
lately, they've been about everyone i haven't seen over the summer.
and atleast one each night this week about going back to school.
soo maybe i really am ready for school to start?

Friday, August 5

i have an addiction.

it's called clothing.
all the clothing storage spaces in my room are full. including the dresser and extra boxes under my bed.
plus the addition of my mom's and sister's clothes.
normal people walk into a store, look for something they absolutely love, and usually end up with one item if any.
problem. i walk into the store and love almost everything there. convincing myself of how much i need it.
i got job, and suddenly this all became more of a reality...
fortunately, i also have an issue paying full price for things.
and unless i'm absolutely in love with it, rarely more than $20.
after a down east box clearance sale, the mall, a shopping trip with my cousins, and my lovely cousin who gives me toons of her old things, my closet is packed.
best part? i paid full price for two items. a dress and a shirt. both $20. scoore.
...obviously, i struggle with selfishness. (*sarcasm)

is autumn really necessary?

i looked up to the mountains today.
and guess what i saw?
nope. not the normal green bare mountains i've grown accustomed too.
but green... wish specks of red, orange, and yellow.
it could only mean one thing
fall is in the air.
like everyone else and their goldfish.
fall time does not bring me great excitement.
i simply wish it would just stay summer.
the changing leaves are real pretty.
but lets face it. i really do like the green.
its almost time for sweaters and boots.
but please, i prefer shorts and barefeet.
and the cool breezes i enjoy.
but my love for the blazing hott sun still remains.
school is officially back in session.
and honestly it isn't that bad.
my classes. are pretty easy.
my friends. absolutely hilarious.
but still i miss those summer days.

i miss my tan. and endless days at the pool.
i would say i'm counting down the days until summer.
but i'm not. because that makes it seem so much further away.
and considering our bi-polar state. i would probly just be diappointed.
but lets be optimistic. (:
alteast its still warm.
and atleast it hasn't started snowing yet.
and one good thing that comes along with fall.
halloween.
i can't even wait.
any good group costume suggestions?
of about 6-7 girls?
any ideas are welcomed. (:
so for now i'll enjoy the warm weather.
and autumn,please, don't rush your arrival. (:

Friday, August 27

really it's ok (:

in my past few posts i have seemed absolutely miserable. and i guess i really wasn't in the greatest mood.  but guess what. really its ok. today was better. lots better. i'm not sure why. but it was. maybe its cause i'm getting used to the school routine again. i really like most my classes this semester. and if don't like the class then i like the friends in the class so its all ok. (:
stacey dahl. is a very sweet a girl. she was one of the reasons today was so great.
also nicole and mckenna. they stick with me. and i enjoy them for that. beth. don't even worry. i understand 100%. (: lunch was definitely grand. people watching is a terribly creepy stalkerish habit. i'm addicted.
p.e. whats up with this ridiculous new dress code? i'm am not a fan. at all.
biology. wow. it may be one of my favorite classes. not cause i enjoy biology because i don't. science is not my thing. but i happen to have a hilarious table. and hilarious kids surrounding the table. so pretty much its a party. (:
i struggle in math. but thats ok. cause sarah spackman yes. i lov her to pieces. and we are pretty much like math buddies.
and adam crawley. yeah sometimes he says things that only i find funny. and actually i find them absolutely hilarious. he's a funny kid.
and sometimes in world geography. mr farnsworth blows one. when he squats to pick up a book. making it extremely awkward and eliminating any fresh air that may have previously lingered.
but that too is a good people watching class. oh and remember that earlier mentioned girl that pretends to like me? good news. we sit right next to each other. in the corner. alone. darn. but an attractive male sits fairly nearby. i'm a fan. (: oh what he's a soccer player? score.
after school. i continue to be in a good mood. this is a first all week.
and then i babysit. and earn money. and we dance in the rain. and watch the lightning. it was prime.
there was a dance tonight. but me and all my friends deicded to ditch it. best decision ever. school dances... really are not that great. at all.
and by the time i get home beth is the only one who i could get a hold of. so i hung out up there. practically my second home. we made a couple phone calls. it was grand. and drew a few pictures. also prime. we made cookie dough. around 8:30 or 9:00ish. very unhealthy. and then make a mad dash with it so we don't get caught. but we do. but that's ok. we were sick of it anyways. we talk about the sort of things best friends talk about. which is pretty much everything. and then we sit on the porch to wait for my mom and play the what if game. beth is much much better at it then am i.
i love this girl to pieces. let me tell you. we are soul sisters. she probably knows more about me then i do. or anyone else in this world. but that's ok. cause i'm pretty sure its the same about me with her. (:
friday's. they are real prime. junior high dances? fail. unnecessary.
especially when you have crayons, cookie dough, and a best friend. (:

Wednesday, August 25

and so it began...

first allow me to warn you. to any readers i may have. this post is rather long and possibly boring. but you see this blog is simply for my own entertainment and journal like purposes. therefore i am documenting this day. and if you don't want to read it feel free to click the little x in the top right. but if you choose to read on, remember i warned you.

we all stressed. we all blogged about it. and we all wished it would never come. but look here it is. school has begun. and i think that deserves a post. considering i am in a blah mood, (like stated in an earlier post) i don't want to make this to treacherous for any of you who chose to read on so i'll try to act as though i'm in a good mood. you see school was really not that terrible. and so here is my condensed down first day story

6:05 my alarm clock beeped. reluctantly i rolled over turned it off and started to get out of bed. but you know when you start to have arguements with yourself. yep i was debating to curl my hair or not to. while thinking about it i managed to fall back asleep, only to reawaken about a half hour later. great. now i was behind.
finally after laying there for a few minutes dragged myself out of bed and decided on curling. not a good idea. i'm not sure what the deal was but my hair did not want to curl and made that very clear to me. 7:15 i get a knock on my door. that would be my mother calling me up for scriptures. my head was a little over half curled and the make-up still sat on my desk waiting to be put to use. 10 minutes later my hair was complete. (the make-up was still yet to be applied) and i hurried up to scriptures. scriptures study happened and i rushed back down stairs to finish up. make-up was on, hair was done, bag packed, lunch ready, and 7:45 i sat waiting for my ride to come. only for them to arrive 20 minutes later.
from there on my day went something like this.
rush to find my locker. hoping the combo works. frantically load my things in as the bell rings.. then off to p.e. i have a good feeling about this class. considering elizabeth is in this class. along with some other friends. (:
then little did i realize that the classes on my schedule were listed in a1, b1, a2, b2, etc order. so i made my way all the way from p.e. up to the seminary building. and scanned through the lists. to bad my name was no where to be found on the a2 lists. someone then suggested i re-check my schedule. i was positive i was in the right place. but just in case i checked again and sure enough i was supposed to be in biology. so i grabbed my stuff and dashed off to biology. luckily they hadn't started class so i rushed in and took a seat right by cassidy. turns out thats my assigned seat. i looked around and realized it was like enjoying acad all over again. i was once again surrounded by all the nerds. i must say i'm looking forward to this class too (:
then math. oh math. i'm not a fan. but guess what. i walked in and pretty much every kid from biology was in that class too. i picked a seat rather close to the front next to beth. we had 4 assignments over the summer. and yep guess how many of them i did. 0. haven't even taken a glance at them. oh well. eventually.
4th period. mr. farnsworth. uh-oh. nuff said. this class is the only one that concerned me. and from the moment i walked in i could tell i was in for a treat. i considered switching out but never got around to it. i still might try. luckily i had beth. she makes everything ok. (: we found 2 empty chairs by each other and took our seats. then i heard the all to familiar laugh and in she walked. the leader of that posse i recently escaped. "barittney your in this class?" with that fake smile plastered on her face. well umm obviously i am. she chose a seat in the opposite corner of me and continued her conversation with her new friends. oh well fine by me. me and beth did some people watching and once again observed it was mostly the same people as had been in the previous 2 classes. we'll be getting to know each other real well now won't we.
at the end of the class the loudspeaker came on and the announcement was made go to your b1 class and then they will tell you either go to the assembly or lunch. so i once again made the long walk up to the seminary building where i was then directed you can go to lunch. so i turned around and back to the school i went. i retrieved my paper sack lunch from my locker and found beth. we then continued outside to claim our spot for the year. considering our previous space in the hallway was now occupied with all our not so favorite people and gossip around every corner. a spot has yet to be claimed and for today we settled along the edge of the cement. with all our other friends. hmm quest for tomorrow. find and claim a spot.
after lunch considering i had already been to b1 i assumed i should be off to b2. so me and beth headed up to daltons room. after sitting for a few minutes daltons informs me that i'm in his next class. that this was b1. great 2 wrong classes in one day. so i bid farewell and started up to seminary. in no apparent rush, although the bell was to ring any minute. i figured they wouldn't mark a tardy on the first day.
as i was walking down the empty hallway i realize someone was behind me. i turn around to once again see that earlier mentioned girl. (the one from history that pretends to like me) you have seminary right now too?! (umm obviously yes once again) maybe we'll be in the same class!  mmm maybe. but hopefully not.
well turns out we were. and guess what? i have an antisocial seminary class. with a few exceptions. her. she sits on the opposite side of the room and continues to pretend as though i don't exsist. (yes we used to be best friends) next, the kid who sits in front row, volunteers for everything, and makes all the loud obnoxious comments. and lastly a couple of the girls who surround me but i'm not quite sure i enjoy them to much. i've seen them around and sort of  knew one of them in seventh grade but things change, people change and we'll see what happens. we then went to sing the song and he asked if anyone would play the piano. yes i am capable but no i did not want to do it. luckily someone finally volunteered. he then asked if anyone could lead. yes i can lead, its not to dificult really but i wasnt going to volunteer. we all looked around awkwardly for a couple minutes and finally i was like, i can if no one else wants to. which they obviously did not. so i awkwardly stood up there and led all 3 verses of i am a child of God. i have looked forward to this class all year, it can't be that bad right? i mean its seminary.
they then led us to an extremely pointless assembly. (as most are) and after a long 45 minutes dismissed us back to class. i once again make my way back to english. luckily i was supposed to be there this time and, cass and beth are in this class so it should be a party. (: so many memories were made in that room. 7th grade acad english. oh my.. and dalton. the most insane crazy teacher.
3rd period. that would be computers in buisness. the class i didn't want to take but its required for highschool graduation and apparentally it pushed art off my schedule. i walk in and realize i have no friends in this class. but hey lets make some new ones. and also its one of those pick where you sit classes. so i chose a seat in front of a group of potential friends and next to the only girl i was slightly familiar with. thankgoodness for her, trying to make conversation and keeping things fun.
then choir. mr. manning? what. please no. you see the only reason i took this class was because of friends. all my friends were in this class and it only occurs one class period. which means a guaranteed fun class. i walked into the room and thought there was some sort of party going on. honestly kids were jumping off chairs everyone was yelling. and some were already singing. awesome. this will be fun now won't it? oh and did i mention its a class of like 75 kids?
we sang, we discussed, we got our sections, did all that fun first day stuff.
then, the bell rings and the end.
the end of the beginning i guess.
first day of school. check.
i would say i loved every second of it but i guess that wouldn't be the truth now would it.
but i shouldn't complain.
most my classes seem decent. teachers seem pretty good. and thankgoodness i have friends to endure it with me. freshman year here i come.

blah...

the only word i could come up with to describe my mood right now.
and i'm honestly not quite sure as to why i am feeling it.
could be because school started.
and i already have homework.
and for some reason i didn't get put in any art classes.
i'm not quite sure. all i know is i am not enjoying it.
if school always makes you feel this way. i quit.

Tuesday, August 24

then we watched it float away...

jen started 7th grade today. (:
i used the first day as an excuse to curl her hair and do her make-up.
just because i love doing it so much.
so i awoke earlier than i would normally and let the work begin.
and when she started to freak out a last minute pep talk was given.
and we discussed crazy stories she could tell about her arm. to bad she turned all my ideas down.
(yes the title was referring to one of many :)
and here. the annual first day of school picture.
aww doesn't she look so darn cute? (:
i love her so much!

Sunday, August 22

dear maddie, kenna, nicole, and beth...

(copied from here..)
let's make this year the best yet.
school starts in 3 days. and i will not say i'm excited cause i'm most definitely not. but we're going to be freshman. and pratically, we are going to rule the school.(:
considering this, here's a list of all the things we can do now.
-we can walk down the halls like we're all that, (like last years freshman ;)
-we could probably claim oursleves a lunch table instead of eating on the hill, in the grass or the yucky hallway
-we can throw little kids into trashcans or call them sevies.
-we can walk past and slam their lockers and if they walk in front of us, just push them out of the way.
-we can stick to our own little clique cause we don't need anyone else.
-we can look and gossip about all the other cliques and be glad we aren't them.
-and we can throw lots of homework parties because now everything counts.
ha. just kidding. we probably could do all that but i'd rather we didn't?
because personally i like walking down the hallway with you guys laughing and talking and occasionally making oursleves look like idiots (:
and who needs that yucky claustrophobic lunchroom? i prefer the hill, the grass and the hallway. we've eaten there since we were little seventh graders, why change now?
and how about instead of throwing them in trashcans or calling them sevies we make new friends? we like new friends. and 'sevie' may very possilby be one of the stupidest word on this earth. we're cooler than that... right? (:
and remember on the first day when we struggled to open our lockers (except maddie) well this year we can help out the poor young 'uns so they aren't late to class. and if they get lost we'll surely help them.
and lets continue to branch out and make tons of new friends. yes, we have each other, and always will, but we can make room for more. (:
and gossiping? who needs gossiping. been there... done that... been a victim of that... its not fun. why participate? here's to no gossiping this year. instead we'll pray. (haha jk efy joke :)
and the homework parties? psh forget it lets have fun!
okay just kidding again. it does count so yeah we'll probably need some occasional homework parties (: but its ok we'll make time for our chick flicks. (beth will bring the tissues :)
hmm sound like a plan?
i think yes. this year will be great.
who cares if we fit in. honestly do you want to be like everyone else? lets just be ourselves and have fun (: if they don't like us... well ha guess thats their loss (: we have all found who we are... i finally found out who my true friends are ;) and boys? psh we don't need them. because we have each other. and you guys are all need to make this school year great. (:
and by the way, thanks (: thanks for always being there for me even when maybe i wasn't for you guys. i love you so much and pretty much you are all like sisters to me. w/ lots of love/ brit (:

ps. the part about how we don't need boys, maddie go for him (: beth, you can keep yours  (: as for me, kenna, and nicole... well i guess we'll see (:
