"i got sunshine in my pocket, a big smile on my face.."

changin' me~ cady groves
it's kinda ridiculous how truly happy i am.
and there are few things anyone could do to change that right now.
ask anyone i worked with today. i couldn't focus, (not that i ever can..) i was singing, and talking to much, and laughing at myself constantly.
my job that i used to dislike so much, i learned to love it. and i really do.
plus, i might possibly get to start working cashier. and i'm ecstatic. because really, there are few things i want more right now then to get out of the back and actually be able to socialize with people.
to make life better, i got off more than an hour early because it was so slow. giving me time to study for my math test. (or obviously blog :)
i don't feel the need to straighten or curl my hair every day, and wear lots of make-up. i'm confident and content with sleeping in later, pulled back hair and only mascara.
(even though i'll probably get ready tomorrow for once :)
it's unbelievable how sore i am. i cringe every time i move. literally. but really, it's great. (:
early morning temple trips are becoming one of my favorite things. thanks to hailey, alisha, nicole, and kasja.
my friends are amazing. we laugh at dumb things, and are so easily entertained, but i sure do love them. (:
today i watched a guy ask a girl on a date. he was so nervous. it was so cute.
that boy makes me happy, and we're probably already best friends. (:
i wish i could be 16 and be asked to homecoming. only one more year.
i'm learning to live on 6 or 7 hours of sleep and inconsistent eating patters. (calm down i eat lots)
and how to survive while being super busy.
my classes are great. the teachers are for the most part incredible, and my classes are full of all my favorite people. remember day two when i hated high school? oh man, i absolutely love it.
i apologize for the lack of depth in my recent posts. when i find time, they'll come. (:
read your scriptures.
say your prayers.
go to the temple.
and please be optimistic.
life is to good to waste your time being sad or depressed.
(oh, and look what i did to my wall this summer :)

let it go.

if someone asked me what the most important thing i've learned in my life was.
it would be this.
because obviously, people are going to say some things that they don't really mean. but don't let it get to you. who cares what they think, you know who you really are.
you're going to do some things that you wish you wouldn't have. i told a boy i loved him when really i didn't know love. it's the one thing in my life i regret doing. and i hate admitting that i did. i can't take it back.. but oh well. life goes on. i learned it's not a term to be used loosely..
things are going to be said about you, that are going to hurt. but you have to get over it. maybe they didn't mean what they said, maybe they did. but learn to forgive, we all make mistakes.
your secrets might get told, and you might lose trust. even if you don't trust them again, you can still be their friend and act like nothing happened.
you're going to fall for someone, who might not feel the same. you don't have to give up.. just don't dwell on it. it's hard. i know. but continue living your life to the fullest and be open to other possibilities.
relationships are going to end. and things will be awkward. pretend nothing happened, get past the awkward. and stay friends.

there's to much happening in the present to be getting caught in the past.
learn from your mistakes and move on.
let go, and live(:

365 days later.

a year ago at this exact moment. my first post on this blog was written...

prologue: i was introduced to meg's blog and that's where my love for blogging began. i had a best friend move to mexico for the summer. we needed a way to keep her updated, and share pictures, other than just e-mails. so we made a blog. it died. but considering it was a shared one, and i had to much to say, i made of my own... and that's where this story starts.

month one. huzzah for any of you that have been with me since the beginning. i had three followers, it was called "once upon a time..." and it looked like the blog of a ten year old. the writing was dull and posts lacked creativity. but i guess you have to start somewhere. my blogging addiction began.

month two: i went on some insane blogging frenzy and posted ridiculous amounts. summer was ending and we went on numerous adventures. i went to efy and it changed my life. i was truly happy with just being me, and not trying to be anyone else. i loved life and i never wanted summer to end. school started and i missed summer immensely.

month three: it was a super good month. i finally accepted the fact that school was in session and there was nothing i could do about it. so i made the best of it. i liked a kid. i made tons and tons of new friends and i was happy. i finally got the hang of blogging, and my writing improved, and i got a few more followers.

month four: i had some amazing days, but lots of not so good too. there were a couple weeks when it seemed like everything was falling apart. and i couldn't take it any longer.

month five:  life began to fly past me. and i wished for things to slow down. school consumed all my energy and time, and my number of posts decreased. everyone hit a rough patch, there was drama at school, people were acting different, and all i wanted was for it to be summer again.

month six: school was hard. i cried a lot. i felt like i wasn't myself. and the Christmas spirit wasn't around. Christmas break finally came around and i recovered from the insane amount of stress and lack of sleep that i'd been experiencing. i enjoyed doing absolutely nothing, i was carefree, lots of family time was spent  and i dreaded school starting back up again.

month seven: it was an average month. i hated the winter. life was dull and i had little to blog about. i started the 30 days thing and gave up after nine. but the attempt is something every blogger has to experience at one point right?

month eight: school was hard. but i stopped letting it get me stressed. i was carefree and found reasons to be happy anyways. i finally felt like i was living again not just going through the motions. also, my followers continued to increase.

month nine: life got crazy busy as i started up track and school work increased but i was happier than ever. i loved my friends and i loved my life. i made tons and tons of new friends, i was madly infatuated with a boy and i craved summer.

month ten: i was super happy. i had the greatest spring break i could imagine, my liking for said boy continued to increase, i didn't sleep nearly enough, and it felt like summer. the amount of followers i had shot up along with the amount of comments i was getting.

month eleven: it was hard. days dragged on. there was no excitement. there were ups and downs daily. i cried often. it was hard. and i started to doubt myself..  i was giving up and i needed summer.

month twelve: that would be this one. school got out. i realized how experiences had shaped me. the unimaginable happened. and there were a couple unexpected bumps in the road. i cried lots but eventually was reminded you just have to let things go. i partied and i loved the fact it was summer. i played and relaxed all day everyday. i truly lived. and loved. everyone. everything.

and that's the current standing.
389 posts. 246 private posts. lots of drafts.
and 12 months later.
i'm stronger than i was. emotionally and mentally. blogging has taught me so much. about myself and about life. my testimony has grown, and you guys have blessed my life. i've been able to look back on experiences and seen how they've helped me grow. and because of it all. i am who i am today.
and i'm truly happy.

another reason to love summer.

3 days a week...
6:15 wake-up.
6:35 bike to gymn.
6:45 workout- P90X. insanity, or pilates.
8:00 gymn.
11:30 bike home.

another day...
(unless i'm to lazy and stay in bed...)
6:15 wake-up.
6:25 run to the gymn.
6:45 workout- P90X, insanity, or pilates.
8:00 run home.

friday & saturday...
sleep in.
go running sometime.

this summer i want to get better at running. and get even stronger at gymnastics.
and this plan seems slightly insane... but i love to work out?
so what is the problem? oh that would be getting my lazy self out of bed on time.
this week, i missed the 6:45 workout yesterday and today. whoops? i'll do better.

oh, and we have a gymn challenge.
so anyone want to go on some bikerides, hikes, or swim laps with me? (:

Friday, June 3

we believe in tradition.

because summer is:
skipping the last day of school because obviously it's unnecessary.
sleeping in.
taco amigo. and getting fries and an oreo shake.
walking everywhere. (more than two hours total)
barefeet and flip-flops.
being carefree and loving life.
spending to much time at the pool.
not caring about boys.
basking in the sun feeling the warm rays on your skin.
being slightly sunburnt.
going all natural. air dried hair and no make-up.
and partying the night away. (:

Thursday, June 2

cause history is what's changin' me.

if you would've asked me a year ago today, i probably would've told you that i was in love with a boy. i would tell you how he was absolutely perfect and i was the happiest girl in the world... well two weeks later, he told me he was over me. and two days after that, he told me how he was with that girl again. the one he broke up with before me. and the one who ruined a portion of my life. i'd tell you my heart had been broken, and how i had cried myself to sleep for days. and i would never get over him.
well guess what? life went on.
i realized it really wasn't love. not even close. things were weird at first. but now we've become really good friends. and it's working much better.
last summer was an important one for me. it was the time i gained my testimony, found out who i was, who my friends were, and really got to know my Savior.
going into this year. i was confident, i was happy, and i thought i knew everything about myself. but there was still so much, i didn't realize i was going to learn.
it wasn't like 7th or 8th grade, where something drastic happened that was a major life lesson for me,
it was the little things...
telling a boy i liked him. when in reality i barely even knew him.
learning to love my friends, through each others imperfections.
watching the time fly by, and learning to make the most of it.
not getting the guy i wanted so badly and learning to move on.
learning to become friends with literally everyone, despite what their social status may have been.
being extremely stressed with school work, so close to giving up on my grades.
spending saturdays in the winter skiing with rachel and maddie, telling each other everything.
i learned to forgive people. and give them second chances that they deserve.
having my best friend leave me for two weeks and realizing how much i desperately needed her.
spending lots of time with my gymn friends and going absolutely crazy!
another crush, and refusing to let him hold my hand or put his arm around me and being soo grateful i did!
being extremely busy juggling track and gymnastics, trying to keep up.
i was reminded over and over how gossiping can hurt. and is never worth it.
getting to know people i never normally would, and making tons of new friends.
pushing through the times where it seemed like nothing was going right, even if i was being faithful.
becoming best friends with jessica, and going to st. george with her.
truly not caring about other people's opinions. being confident in who i am despite what they think.
spending an entire day around guys with no make-up, finally confident in just being me.
letting blogging become a part of my life, and being inspired by all of you.
trying out for cheer. and realizing the how gymnastics has become a part of me.
gaining trust in people, and letting them completely open up to me.
being happier than ever, but also crying so much, and learning to put my trust in the Lord.
become enveloped in the blogging world. making new friends, and being truly blessed through it.
realizing that the friends i have now, are the best ones out there. and no matter what, to never ditch them, because i honestly need them so much.

this year flew by so quickly... and i'm still struggling to realize that it really is summer.
but i survived junior high. probably thee weirdest three years of my life.
to think i was one of the naive innocent seventh graders.
i've grow so much, and learned so much about myself. i've experienced alot, and each one one of the experiences i wouldn't trade for anything. i'm grateful for each and every person and teacher that i've met. because whether or not they realized it, they made an impact on my life.
my testimony has grown immensely. i've grown to love my friends more than ever.
and i can truly say i'm happy. (:
next year is high school. and i am so excited for what's to come.
but not yet, cause for now.
it's summer. (:

Sunday, May 15

our work of art.

once upon a time there was a party.
one of which we weren't invited to..
problem? definitely not...

Sunday, May 8

untitled.

remember when i used to blog almost every day?
i honestly miss those days.
i don't know why i haven't blogged lately...
when i do come back though, i feel unwritten.
like there are chapters in the story that got ripped out.
i have endless amounts of drafts. i'm not sure why they never made it to being posted.
they just didn't.
the past few weeks have been weird.
tons of amazing things.
but lots of tears too.
most for no particular reason.
or just the little things.
reflecting back, something just doesn't feel right.
i feel like i'm in a rut.
even when i continue to read my scriptures and pray daily...
new things happen each day. incredible experiences have occurred.
so why do i feel this way?
maybe it should just be summer already..
